Free Cycle Gent is a platform used by people who want to give their items away for free, and by people who are looking for free stuff.
It started out as an unorganised facebook group, but when this was shut down it was time for a redesign. This was a schoolproject, and the assignment was to find out how we could improve the platform.

My addition to the concept isn't visible in the moqups, it's an idea that will improve the user experience. Each user start out with 0 "credits". When the user gives away an item, he will earn some credits. While looking at the overview of items which are offered by people, users with credits will see the new items appear sooner than people without. This way, people who have been generous before will get a little head start.

When they've made an account, they get an overview of the items other people are giving away. They can filter on locations, type, etc. and another subcategory. They can say they are interested in an item, and then the owner will get noticed. When offering an item, the giver can choose to only permit a limited amount of people to be interested in the item. When this amount is reached, the item will be unvisible for others. This will prevent lots of people asking for the item.
The person who offers the item can choose to whom he will be giving the item. There's also a functionality to randomly pick someone, for those who don't know who to choose. When the item is given away, they can close it so the other people who were interested get a message that the item is no longer available.
If something went wrong, they can reopen the item so it will be available for others.
